ASIC bans compliance manager Robert John Tohill of MWL Financial Services
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has banned Robert John Tohill for five years from providing financial services and holding key management roles due to his involvement in contraventions of financial services laws at MWL Financial Services. ASIC found that Tohill failed in his gatekeeper functions by approving misleading Statements of Advice regarding the Shield Master Fund and omitting required disclosures about lead generator arrangements. Clients of MWL are advised to lodge complaints with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority as ASIC continues its investigation into the fund and related entities.
