Former fund manager Rodney Forrest sentenced to six years for Platinum Asset Management insider trading
ASIC announced that former investment manager Rodney Forrest has been sentenced to six years imprisonment for insider trading and providing unlicensed financial services involving Platinum Asset Management shares. Forrest illegally accessed confidential takeover documents, traded over $3 million in shares, and leaked the information to the media, resulting in approximately $300,000 in illicit profits. This case marks the first outcome of ASIC’s new specialist insider trading team, which investigated and prosecuted the matter within 16 months to demonstrate its commitment to fast-tracking such criminal offenses.
