2019-08-23 | 13095The Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon issued Decision No. 13095 to formally publish and update the regulatory framework for credit and payment cards operating in Lebanon. This regulation explicitly lists six approved card networks—Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, China UnionPay, and JCB Card—and mandates compliance with the conditions set forth in Basic Decision No. 7299 dated June 10, 1999. Furthermore, it officially repeals Decision No. 12782 dated April 10, 2018, and takes effect upon publication in the Official Gazette.
Decision No. 13095 Regulation on Credit and Payment Cards Used in Lebanon
The Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Based on Basic Decision No. 7299 dated June 10, 1999 (Lebanese Banking and Credit/Payment Cards), pursuant to Article 2 thereof, Has decided as follows:
Article 1: The Regulation on Credit and Payment Cards Used in Lebanon is published as follows, stipulated under Article 1: For the conditions specified in Basic Decision No. 7299 dated June 10, 1999:
Article 2: Decision No. 12782 dated April 10, 2018 is hereby repealed.
Article 3: This decision shall be published in the Official Gazette and takes effect as necessary.
