The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has published the Final Report of the ASX Inquiry Panel, which identifies critical failures in ASX's governance, risk management, and stewardship of market infrastructure. ASIC will jointly oversee ASX's implementation of agreed commitments with the Reserve Bank of Australia, including a $150 million capital charge and enhanced board independence, to ensure a strategic reset of operations. The regulator emphasizes that ASX must deliver sustained transformational change to restore trust and ensure the safe, efficient operation of critical clearing and settlement facilities.
