Former NSW director Mark Barnes sentenced to imprisonment after dishonestly obtaining $2.4m by selling false invoices

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions prosecuted former director Mark Barnes, who was sentenced to one year and ten months imprisonment for dishonestly obtaining $2.4 million by selling false invoices to a financial funding company. Deputy Chief Judge C O’Brien imposed an Intensive Correction Order with home detention and community service, noting the sophisticated nature of the deception involving falsified documents. As a result of his conviction, Mr Barnes is automatically disqualified from managing companies for five years until 1 April 2031.
