ASIC bans former MWL and UGC adviser Louis Van Coppenhagen for 7 years
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has issued a seven-year banning order against former financial adviser Louis Van Coppenhagen due to his provision of inappropriate and conflicted advice while authorised by MWL Financial Services and United Global Capital. ASIC determined that Van Coppenhagen is not a fit and proper person after he recommended high-risk investments to clients and played a key role in implementing UGC’s advice model that led to the cancellation of its licence. The order took effect on 16 December 2025 and is recorded on the Banned and Disqualified Register, with affected clients advised to lodge complaints with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
