ASIC Launches Review of Debt Management and Credit Repair Sector
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has launched a surveillance review of the debt management and credit repair sector to investigate potential failures by licensees to act efficiently, honestly, and fairly. The review will examine compliance with legal obligations and specific instances of consumer harm, such as excessive fees, unkept promises, and inadequate communication. ASIC intends to publish insights from this review in a public report in 2026 and will take enforcement action against any detected unfair or unlawful practices.
