The Central Bank of Belize issued Exchange Control Direction No. 9/2014 to regulate Belize dollar accounts held by non-residents with Authorised Dealers. The directive mandates that dealers notify the Central Bank of all new accounts and submit monthly lists of account holders while prohibiting the opening of such accounts for residents. It strictly defines permissible credits and debits for these accounts and requires specific Central Bank permission for overdrafts or loans to non-residents.
