High Seas Fishing Act Chapter 210:01 Revised Edition 2020
The Government of Belize enacted the High Seas Fishing Act to regulate Belize-flagged vessels operating on the high seas and implement international conservation obligations. The legislation establishes the Belize High Seas Fisheries Unit to administer licensing, allocate quotas, and enforce compliance with regional fisheries management measures. It further empowers authorized officers to monitor, inspect, and sanction violations, including illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing activities.
