Decision Amending the Decision on the Central Registry of Transaction Accounts and Deposits and Safe Deposit Boxes
The Council of the Central Bank of Montenegro issued this decision to amend identification requirements for entrepreneurs within the Central Registry of Transaction Accounts and Deposits and Safe Deposit Boxes. The amendment replaces the mandatory thirteen numeric character format with an option for either eight or thirteen numeric characters across multiple articles and technical message annexes. This regulatory change enters into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette of Montenegro.
Pursuant to Article 44 paragraph 2 item 3 of the Central Bank of Montenegro Law (OGM 40/10, 6/13, 70/17, 125/23), Article 65a paragraph (2) of the of the Payment System Law (OGM 62/13, 111/25, 15/25, 140/25), and Article 112 paragraph (8) of the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (OGM 110/23, 65/24, 24/25, 41/26), the Council of the Central Bank of Montenegro, at its meeting held on 11 May 2026, passed the following DECISION AMENDING THE DECISION ON THE CENTRAL REGISTRY OF TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS AND DEPOSITS AND SAFE DEPOSIT BOXES Article 1 In the Decision on the Central Registry of Transaction Accounts and Deposits and Safe Deposit Boxes (OGM 78/24), in Article 3 paragraph (1) item 13, the words: “for entrepreneurs - 13 numeric characters” shall be replaced by the following: “for entrepreneurs - eight or 13 numeric characters”. Article 2 In Article 4 paragraph (1) item 8, the words: “for entrepreneurs - 13 numeric characters” shall be replaced by the following: “for entrepreneurs - eight or 13 numeric characters”. Article 3 In Article 5 paragraph (1) item 3, the words: “for entrepreneurs - 13 numeric characters” shall be replaced by the following: “for entrepreneurs - eight or 13 numeric characters”. Article 4 In Annex 1, in item 2, sub-item 2.1 SMT 740 message, item 3, sub-item 3.1 SMT 750 message, and in item 4, sub-item 4.1 SMT 760 message, in the field 50, column “Note”, the words: “for entrepreneurs - 13 numeric characters” shall be replaced by the following: “for entrepreneurs - eight or 13 numeric characters”. Article 5 This Decision shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the “Official Gazette of Montenegro”.
