Finansinspektionen issued regulations amending its rules on Swedish UCITS to implement provisions for the pan-European Personal Pension Product (PEPP). The amendment inserts a new Chapter 22 establishing special requirements for Swedish management companies acting as PEPP providers or distributors. These rules reference Finansinspektionen’s separate PEPP regulations and entered into force on 1 January 2023.

Finansinspektionen prescribes pursuant to section 2, points 1 and 5 of the Supplemental Provisions for the EU Regulation on a pan-European Personal Pension Product (PEPP) Ordinance (2022:1765) that a new section, Chapter 22, section 4, and a new heading immediately preceding Chapter 22, section 4, shall be inserted into Finansinspektionen’s regulations (FFFS 2013:9) regarding Swedish UCITS with the following wording. Chapter 22 Special provisions for Swedish management companies that are PEPP providers or PEPP distributors Section 4 For Swedish management companies that are PEPP providers or PEPP distributors pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/1238 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 on a pan-European Personal Pension Product (PEPP), there are additional provisions set out in Finansinspektionen’s regulations (FFFS 2022:20) regarding a pan-European personal pension product.
