Notice No. 9/GBM/2025, of December 9 – Establishes Limits on Foreign Payments Made Through Bank Cards
The Bank of Mozambique issued Notice No. 9/GBM/2025 to establish a unified annual limit of six million meticais for foreign payments made by resident and non-resident holders of bank cards issued in Mozambique. This aggregate limit applies across all national credit institutions and channels, including cash withdrawals, while allowing the central bank to grant case-by-case additional limits up to six million meticais upon justified request. Credit institutions must notify holders when half and full annual limits are reached, block cards upon limit exhaustion, and comply with the existing Bank Cards Regulation and exchange control sanctioning regime.
