Bank of Zambia Circular No. 11/2025: Adjustment to Prescribed Negotiable Amount Under IFEM Rules and FX Guidelines

The Bank of Zambia has revised the prescribed negotiable amount for commercial banks operating in the domestic foreign exchange market from US$1,000,000 to US$5,000,000. This amendment to the Interbank Foreign Exchange Market Rules and Foreign Exchange Market Guidelines takes effect on 6 March 2025 to improve market operations. Commercial banks are directed to notify their clients of the updated threshold to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
