The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a decision to withdraw 5 Convertible Marks banknotes from circulation. Commercial banks are required to handle the withdrawal process from April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2010, while the Central Bank will accept the notes until April 10, 2010. These banknotes cease to be legal tender for any obligations starting January 1, 2010.

Pursuant to Article 39 of the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Official Gazette of BiH", No. 1/97, 29/02, 13/03, 14/03, 9/05, 76/06 and 32/07), the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its 3rd session held on March 26, 2009, adopts
DECISION on the withdrawal from circulation of banknotes, of the denomination of 5 convertible marks
The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (hereinafter: the Central Bank) withdraws from circulation banknotes of the denomination of 5 convertible marks, which are in circulation as legal tender in accordance with the Decision on the Issuance and Circulation of Convertible Mark Banknotes ("Official Gazette of BiH", No. 10/98).
The withdrawal of banknotes from point 1 of this Decision shall be carried out by commercial banks starting from April 1, 2009, up to and including March 31, 2010. The Central Bank shall accept the banknotes withdrawn from point 1 of this Decision from commercial banks via designated vaults, successively during the period specified in paragraph 1 of this Article, and no later than April 10, 2010.
Holders of the banknotes from point 1 of this Decision may freely make payments with these banknotes in circulation up to and including December 31, 2009.
Starting from January 1, 2010, the banknotes from point 1 of this Decision cease to be legal tender and cannot be accepted in circulation for the settlement of any obligations.
This Decision enters into force on the day of its publication in the "Official Gazette of BiH", and shall also be published in the "Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH", the "Official Gazette of the Republika Srpska" and the "Official Gazette of the Brčko District of BiH".
