Banknote Imagery Advisory Group Minutes – 15 December 2025
The Bank of England’s Banknote Imagery Advisory Group approved the nature and wildlife theme for Series H banknotes and established a process for engaging an external Expert Panel to nominate UK wildlife for the design. The Group mandated that the shortlist must consist exclusively of non-domesticated, recognizable animals that support security features and accessibility, while explicitly excluding plants and previously featured species. Final decisions on expert selection and guidance criteria were delegated to the Chair and staff, with a public consultation on the shortlist scheduled for 2026.
