The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic issued Communication “A” 8384 to update its consolidated regulatory text by establishing the 2026 Sanction Unit value at $5,300,000 pesos. Furthermore, it confirms that exceptional sanctions must be duly justified, applied in accordance with general legal principles and constitutional guarantees, while providing a complete historical table of the Sanction Unit’s annual adjustments from 2017 to 2026.

We address you to inform you that this Institution has adopted the resolution which, in its relevant part, provides: “- Establish, within the framework of the consolidated text on the Disciplinary Regime of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (Laws 21.526 and 25.065) and Processing of Foreign Exchange Proceedings (Law 19.359), the value of the Sanction Unit for 2026 at $5,300,000 (five million three hundred thousand pesos).” Regarding this, we forward you the pages that, replacing those previously provided, should be incorporated into the referenced consolidated text. 9.1. Circumstances and exceptional cases. Only in exceptional cases may the resolving body apply criteria that deviate from what is provided in this regime, mitigating or aggravating sanctions in a duly justified manner, among others, in particular cases that may possess characteristics not covered by this regulation. Such criteria must necessarily be applied in accordance with the circumstances of the case, applicable general principles of law, and constitutionally recognized guarantees, preventing arbitrary discriminations. 9.2. Sanction Unit. Fine sanctions will be calculated using the value of the Sanction Unit in effect at the time the BCRA issues the sanctioning resolution and will be expressed in pesos.
