Decision on the Issue of the 50-Dinar Banknote and Its Main Features

RS Official Gazette, No 43/2011 Pursuant to Article 18, paragraph 1, indent 3, in relation to Article 55, paragraph 1 of the Law on the National Bank of Serbia (RS Official Gazette, Nos 72/2003, 55/2004 and 44/2010), Governor of the National Bank of Serbia issues DECISION ОN ISSUE OF 50-DINAR BANKNOTE AND ITS MAIN FEATURES

1. The National Bank of Serbia shall issue a 50-dinar banknote.
2. The 50-dinar banknote shall be printed on tinted security paper with a multitone watermark featuring the portrait of Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac and an embedded windowed security silver-coloured thread containing the microlettering in the negative “ДИНАР DINAR”, with the mark “~”. The microlettering is continuously repeated and read both from the front and back of the banknote (the security thread and microlettering are clearly visible from the front and can be seen from the back under the light which makes the banknote transparent). The paper also incorporates visible security fibres in yellow, blue and red colours, with yellow and red fluorescing yellow and red under the light of a UV lamp. The banknote shall be printed in a combined technique – the front in the multicolour offset print, and the back in the multicolour offset print and letter press for numbering. The numbering contains two letters and seven numerals and is printed twice on the back of the banknote – once in black and the second time in red. The numbering is printed in the black colour and is placed in the upper part between the Coat-of-Arms of the Republic of Serbia and the denomination value “50”, fluorescing yellow-green under ultraviolet rays. The numbering is printed in the red colour and is placed along the right edge of the fully printed part, above the denomination value “50”, fluorescing orange-red under ultraviolet rays.
3. The dimensions of the 50-dinar banknote shall be 66x139 mm. Front of the banknote

2 The left side features the portrait of Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac in intaglio print. To the left from the portrait there are words “Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac” in a row, in Cyrillic and Latin letters, and in the continuation there are the years of his birth and death “1856–1914”. To the right from the portrait there are stylised depictions of a violin, keyboard, and scores from Mokranjac’s legacy in the negative. The denomination value “50” is in the negative, placed in the upper right corner of the fully printed part, and the one in the positive is placed in the lower part of the white surface. The text “Narodna banka Srbije” in intaglio print is written in Latin letters in two rows and placed in the white surface in the right corner, while the same text in intaglio print, in Cyrillic letters in two rows is placed near the left margin of the banknote – words “Narodna banka” in the positive and the word “Srbije” in the negative. Above the word “Srbije” written in Cyrillic letters in the negative there shall be an intaglio mark for the visually impaired persons (a rectangle is inscribed in the square interlaced by horizontal lines). To the left from this word there is the microlettering “NBS” printed in the same technique, in Cyrillic and Latin letters in six rows. The upper part of the white surface of the banknote contains the so-called ellipsoidal shape kip effect in intaglio print featuring the logo of the National Bank of Serbia. This picture turns into text “NBS” which becomes visible only when observing the banknote under particular angles (the viewing direction must be as close as possible to the surface of the banknote turned by 45 degrees in both rotation directions), thereby displaying the picture both in the positive and negative. The upper and lower edges of this element contain the microlettering “NBS” which is repeated – in Cyrillic letters in the upper part and Latin letters in the lower part. There is another kip effect of rectangular shape in intaglio print in the lower right part of the white surface of the banknote, above the denomination value 50”, containing the text “NBS” in Cyrillic letters, and below and above it there is the microlettering “NBS” in Cyrillic letters in the upper part and in Latin letters in the lower part. This kip effect is viewed in the same manner as the one in the upper part of the white surface. The lower right corner of the fully printed part of the banknote displays a see-through register representing one half of the whole picture which can be seen in total only together with the appropriate part

3 of the picture on the back of the banknote (the total picture consists of the keyboard). To the left of the number “50” there is the text “pedeset dinara” in the negative and Cyrillic letters, while the same text in Latin letters is placed in the lower part of the banknote, with the see-through register. Along the right edge of the banknote, against the light violet background there is the text “falsifikovanje se kažnjava po zakonu” in Cyrillic and Latin letters, followed by the discreet designation of the denomination value “50”. Back of the banknote 5. The layout shall be vertical. The central part of the banknote features the figure of Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac (a detail in a photograph from the Negotin Museum). The upper right corner from the figure of Mokranjac displays in the linear technique a motif from the Gospel of Miroslav illuminated manuscript, and above it to the right side there is a discreet depiction of scores. The denomination value “50” in the positive is placed in the upper right corner of the banknote against the violet background, and the one in the negative is placed in the lower left corner of the fully printed part. The upper right corner of the fully printed part contains the text “pedeset dinara” in black in Cyrillic in the upper part and in violet in Latin letters in the lower part. The lower right part of the white surface contains words in three rows, from up to down in Cyrillic and Latin letters: “Beograd”, “godina” and “guverner” with the designation of the year “2011” in the negative. Below these words there is the signature of governor Dejan Šoškić. The upper and lower edges of the fully printed part contain the text “Narodna banka Srbije – Zavod za izradu novčanica i kovanog novca – Topčider” (the upper text in Cyrillic letters and the lower text in Latin letters). The lower right corner of the fully printed part contains the microlettering “50 dinara” in the positive, alternately in Cyrillic and Latin letters, in eight rows. The denomination value “50” is placed above the microlettering. The upper left corner of the banknote features the Great Coat-of￾Arms of the Republic of Serbia against the violet background, and this background under the coat of arms contains the multiplicated number

4 “50” in the negative with a shade, and the microlettering in the lower part. The upper left corner of the banknote, at the border between the white surface and the fully printed part contains the second part of the see-through register referred to in Section 4, paragraph 7 hereof. 6. The front and back of the banknote are dominated by shades of violet, with the addition of ochre. The ochre shades on the front and back fluoresce yellow under ultraviolet rays. 7.
