G8/2022 Guidance on FRTB and CVA Capitalisation Requirements

The South African Prudential Authority has deferred the effective date for capitalisation requirements under the revised Fundamental Review of the Trading Book and Credit Valuation Adjustment frameworks from the originally proposed 1 January 2024 deadline. This postponement aligns South African banking regulations with delayed implementation timelines adopted by the Basel Committee and other major international jurisdictions following the economic disruptions caused by the pandemic. Regulated institutions must prepare for transitional arrangements and await a future directive that will establish the final compliance date in coordination with South Africa's key trading partners.
