2025-03-28 | 8228The Board of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia issued Resolution No. 52-N to withdraw specific 1999 through 2015 issue banknotes of 500 to 20,000 Drams from circulation. These notes remain legal tender until April 15, 2026, after which they cease to be valid for transactions within the country. Following this date, holders may exchange the withdrawn notes free of charge at the Central Bank and authorized commercial banks without restrictions.

For the purpose of organizing the recall and withdrawal of the notes and coins of the Republic of Armenia from circulation; In view of Article 2 (3), Article 20 (1) (“e” and “g”), Article 42 and Article 47 of the Republic of Armenia Law “On the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia”, the Board of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia

The Republic of Armenia banknotes of the 1999 issue with a face value of 500 (five hundred) drams; of the 1999, 2001, 2011, 2015 issues with a face value of 1000 (one thousand) drams; of the 1999, 2003, 2009, 2012 issues with a face value of 5000 (five thousand) drams; of the 2003, 2006, 2008, 2012 issues with a face value of 10000 (ten thousand) drams; of the 1999, 2007, 2009, 2012 issues with a face value of 20000 (twenty thousand) drams remain with their face value as legal tender in the territory of the Republic of Armenia up until April 15, 2026.
The Republic of Armenia banknotes of the 1999 issue with a face value of 500 (five hundred) drams; of the 1999, 2001, 2011, 2015 issues with a face value of 1000 (one thousand) drams; of the 1999, 2003, 2009, 2012 issues with a face value of 5000 (five thousand) drams; of the 2003, 2006, 2008, 2012 issues with a face value of 10000 (ten thousand) drams; of the 1999, 2007, 2009, 2012 issues with a face value of 20000 (twenty thousand) drams cease to be legal tender in the territory of the Republic of Armenia starting from April 15, 2026.
After April 15, 2026, The Republic of Armenia banknotes of the 1999 issue with a face value of 500 (five hundred) drams; of the 1999, 2001, 2011, 2015 issues with a face value of 1000 (one thousand) drams; of the 1999, 2003, 2009, 2012 issues with a face value of 5000 (five thousand) drams; of the 2003, 2006, 2008, 2012 issues with a face value of 10000 (ten thousand) drams; of the 1999, 2007, 2009, 2012 issues with a face value of 20000 (twenty thousand) drams can be exchanged only at the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia and commercial banks operating in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, without restrictions and free of charge .
This resolution to enter into force on the day following its official publication.
