Decision on the Issue and Main Features of 1-Dinar, 2-Dinar and 5-Dinar Coins

The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia issued a decision authorizing the production of 1, 2, and 5-dinar coins with specific physical and design standards. The regulation mandates that these coins be minted from multilayer steel coated with copper and brass, adhering to precise mass and diameter tolerances. It further defines the obverse imagery featuring national landmarks and the reverse displaying the Republic of Serbia's coat of arms, effective upon publication in the Official Gazette.

RS Official Gazette, No 56/2013 Pursuant to Article 18, paragraph 1, item 3, and with reference to Article 55, paragraph 1 of the Law on the National Bank of Serbia (RS Official Gazette, Nos 72/2003, 55/2004, 85/2005 – other law, 44/2010, 76/2012 and 106/2012), the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia issues the following: DECISION ON THE ISSUE AND MAIN FEATURES OF THE 1-DINAR, 2-DINAR AND 5-DINAR COINS

  1. The National Bank of Serbia shall issue 1-dinar, 2-dinar and 5-dinar coins.
  2. The coins referred to in section 1 hereof shall be coined of multilayer material: core of low-carbon steel, electrochemically double coated, first with a layer of copper (Cu, coat thickness 8 + 2.5 µm) and then with a layer of brass (Cu67 Zn 33, coat thickness 7.5 + 2.5 µm).
  3. The coins referred to in section1 hereof shall be of the following mass and diameters:
  1. 1-dinar coin – mass 4.20 g and diameter 20 mm,
  2. 2-dinar coin – mass 5.05 g and diameter 22 mm,
  3. 5-dinar coin – mass 5.78 g and diameter 24 mm. Allowed deviations from the stipulated mass of any particular coin referred to in paragraph 1 of this section shall be ± 3.5 %. Allowed deviations from the stipulated diameter of any particular coin referred to in paragraph 1 of this section shall be ± 0.1mm.
  1. The front (obverse) of the coins referred to in section1 hereof shall be the following:
  • 1-dinar coin: relief of the building of the National Bank of Serbia in the central part, above it word “dinar” written in Cyrillic and Latin letters, to the left nominal value of the coin “1” and beneath it year of minting “2013”;
  • 2-dinar coin: relief of the edifice of the monastery of Gracanica in the central part, above it word “dinars” written in Cyrillic and Latin

letters, to the left nominal value of the coin “2” and beneath it year of minting “2013”; in between the nominal value of the coin and year minting, is the wording “Gracanica”, written in Cyrillic letters, tight to the rim of the coin;

  • 5-dinar coin: relief of the edifice of the monastery of Krusedol in the central part, above it word “dinars” written in Cyrillic and Latin letters, to the left nominal value of the coin “5” and beneath it year of minting “2013”; in between the nominal value of the coin and year minting, is the wording “Krusedol”, written in Cyrillic letters, tight to the rim of the coin;
  1. The back (reverse) of the coins referred to in section 1 hereof shall be the following: great coat-of-arms of the Republic of Serbia in the central part; above it and around it, written in Cyrillic and Latin letters the wording “REPUBLIC OF SERBIA”, separated by a dash; beneath it the wording “NBS” written in the same way and also separated by a dash, and also separated from the wording “REPUBLIC OF SERBIA” by dots.
  2. At the rim of the coins referred to in section 1 hereof, at the lengths of circular arcs of 72 degrees is a flat surface, followed by vertical reeds of semi-diameter 0.15 mm.
