OFFICE FOR FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, Private Bag 238, PRETORIA. July 1968. CIRCULAR NO. F.S. 6. (To all mutual aid societies). A. AMENDMENT OF THE MUTUAL AID SOCIETIES ACT.

1. The attention of societies is drawn to the amendments of the Mutual Aid Societies Act contained in section 15 of the Financial Institutions Amendment Act, 1968 (Act No. 65). The latter Act was promulgated in Extraordinary Government Gazette No. 2107 of 26 June 1968. Copies of the Government Gazette are available at 10c each from the State Printer (Publications Division), Private Bag 85, Pretoria or P.O. Box 571, CAPE TOWN. B. ANNUAL REPORT, 1966.
2. The Fourth Annual Report of the Registrar of Mutual Aid Societies is now available and can be ordered directly from the State Printer at the addresses mentioned in paragraph 1 above at 35c (overseas 45c) per copy (post free). Its reference number is R.P. 46/1968. C. LATE SUBMISSION OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AND STATISTICS.
3. Year after year, many societies submit their financial statements and other documents late, i.e., after 30 June, without having requested an extension. This Office considers the period of 6 months within which the prescribed returns must be submitted in terms of the Regulations to be entirely sufficient. Extensions will therefore henceforth be granted only if valid reasons, to the satisfaction of this Office, are presented for such. 2/ ... ...
