The Central Bank of Azerbaijan and the Central Bank of Sudan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation during the 51st Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group in Baku. The agreement aims to strengthen institutional and legal foundations for collaboration in monetary policy, financial sector regulation, payment systems, and combating money laundering and terrorist financing. To facilitate this partnership, the central banks will organize joint meetings, seminars, training programs, and business visits to exchange advanced practices and knowledge.
Azerbaijan Central Bank and Sudan Central Bank sign Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation
June 18, 2026: The Governor of the Central Bank, Taleh Kazimov, met with a delegation led by Ms. Amna Mirgani, Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, who is visiting our country for the first time within the framework of the 51st Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group.
During the meeting, existing approaches were discussed regarding the macroeconomic situation and development trends, mechanisms for improving the transmission of monetary policy, deepening correspondent banking relationships, and expanding financial inclusion.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, which will serve to strengthen the institutional and legal foundations of cooperation between the institutions, further expand mutual relations, and promote the exchange of advanced practices and knowledge in the field of central banking.
Within the framework of the Memorandum, cooperation will be deepened in areas such as monetary policy, the financial sector, payment systems, financial technologies, banking supervision, combating the legalization of property acquired by criminal means and the financing of terrorism, and other areas of interest.
For this purpose, the organization of meetings, seminars, experience exchanges, training programs, and business visits is envisaged.
