Azerbaijan's Open Banking success presented to the international community
The Central Bank of Azerbaijan, in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation, presented the country's rapid and effective Open Banking implementation to an international audience. The session highlighted how the swift onboarding of all major banks into the ecosystem demonstrates strong regulatory and market support for digital transformation. Over 170 delegates from various countries gained detailed insights into Azerbaijan's functional development, regulatory framework, and future transition to Open Finance.
Azerbaijan's Open Banking success presented to the international community
June 16, 2026, Baku: An international webinar on "Open Banking: Azerbaijan Experience" was held under the auspices of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) with the participation of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the webinar, it was emphasized that Azerbaijan's experience in Open Banking was implemented more quickly and effectively compared to a number of international examples. The rapid joining of all banks, which are key participants in the ecosystem, to the Open Banking ecosystem and their active operation on the platform demonstrates the high level of support for digital transformation in the country, as well as the benefits of Open Banking by both regulatory authorities and market participants. It is precisely these results and the successful cooperation model formed that have increased international interest in Azerbaijan's experience, necessitating the active participation of participants from various countries and extensive discussions on the topic.
Within the framework of the webinar, the work done in the direction of creating and developing Open Banking functionality in Azerbaijan, the results achieved, as well as the prospects for transitioning to the Open Finance concept were presented. During the meeting, detailed information was provided about the business and technical aspects of Open Banking functionality, the solutions applied, and the regulatory framework. At the same time, questions of interest to participants were answered and opinions were exchanged on the topic. Thus, more than 170 representatives representing various countries obtained detailed information about the experience formed by Azerbaijan in the field of Open Banking and the approaches applied. At the end of the event, methodological materials and presentation documents used in the field of Open Banking were presented to the participants.
