Regulations amending Finansinspektionen’s rules on amortisation of loans collateralised by residential property

Finansinspektionen issued regulations amending its previous rules on amortisation for loans secured by residential property to introduce an exemption for specific consumer credit activities. The new Section 13a permits firms to allow borrowers to skip mandatory amortisation when granting loans classified under the Consumer Credit Act. These regulations entered into force on 1 January 2019, with specific grandfathering provisions for loans issued prior to that date or resulting from partial property ownership changes.
