Bank of Zambia Circular No. 13/2021 on Money Markets Survey
The Bank of Zambia has issued Circular No. 13/2021 to commercial banks, requiring them to complete and submit a comprehensive questionnaire on money market and foreign exchange operations by September 14, 2021. This submission supports a technical review conducted in partnership with IMF AFRITAC South to assess current market developments and inform future policy interventions. An electronic questionnaire template will be distributed to participating institutions, with clarification available through the Financial Markets Department’s Money Markets Unit.

## MONEY MARKETS SURVEY
Reference is made to the above captioned subject matter.
The Bank of Zambia, in its effort to develop and further deepen the money markets in Zambia, is undertaking a technical engagement with the International Monetary Fund to review the country’s money market operations and developments. Given the dynamic nature of money markets and the various changes that have taken place over the years, it is necessary that continued reviews are conducted in order to devise appropriate policy interventions. Accordingly, the Bank is working with IMF AFRITAC South, to carry out this review.
In this regard, questionnaire survey templates have been developed, comprising a comprehensive set of questions, generally covering money market operations, foreign exchange market and developments to assist in information gathering for the review and analysis process. Commercial banks, are hereby required to participate by completing the questionnaire and submitting it to the Bank of Zambia by Tuesday, September 14, 2021. An electronic copy of the questionnaire will be dispatched for your use.
