Information Circular 1 of 2006: Extension for 2005 Pension Fund Financial Statements and Reports
The Financial Services Board of South Africa extends the submission deadline for 2005 financial statements, reports, and statistics from privately administered pension funds to 30 April 2006. Underwritten funds receive a separate extension until 31 August 2006 for un-audited returns, with all submissions required electronically in the newly mandated format. While penalties apply for late filings, the regulator will consider individual extension requests submitted before the new deadlines expire.

To all approved administrators and all privately administered funds
### EXTENSION IN TERMS OF SECTION 33 OF THE PENSION FUNDS ACT NO. 24 OF 1956 (AS AMENDED) FOR 2005 FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, REPORTS AND STATISTICS
As stated in Information Circular 1/2005, this Office is aware of the practical implementation problems experienced in the adjustment of systems to enable electronic reporting in the new format.
The extension granted in terms of Section 33(1) until 31 March 2006 for all privately administered funds for the submission of 2005 financial statements **electronically and in the new format**, is **extended to 30 April 2006**.
In the case of Underwritten Funds, extension has been granted until 31 August 2006 for the submission of un-audited 2005 returns electronically and in the new format.
All 2005 returns must reach this Office in good time on or before the extension has expired to avoid penalties being generated, however, **further extensions will be considered on an individual basis on receipt of such requests**.
