Operational and Services External Circular DTE-190, Subject 41: New Metallic Coins

The Bank of the Republic issued Operational and Services External Circular DTE-190 to fully repeal the previous circular regarding new metallic coins. This regulatory update reorganizes information by transferring details on discontinued 5, 10, and 20 peso coins to separate historical records while maintaining the 50 peso coin specifications under the Department of Emission and Programming. The change reflects an administrative shift to separate the production status of obsolete denominations from the currently circulating 50 peso coin.

This Circular fully repeals Operational and Services External Circular DTE–190 of April 14, 2025, Subject 41: “NEW METALLIC COINS” from the Treasury Manual.

The information related to this regulation will be contained in the circulars of the Emission and Programming Department:

• DEP-497 Subject 14: “50 Peso Metallic Coin” • DEP-498 Subject 15: “5, 10, and 20 peso coins minted from 1989 onwards”

The above is due to the change in the area responsible for this regulation and with the purpose of reorganizing the information, separating the historical record of the 5, 10, and 20 peso coins, which are no longer manufactured, from the information corresponding to the 50 peso denomination, which continues to be produced for circulation.
