BRPD-1 Circular Letter No. 14: Loan Disbursement to the Leather Sector on the Occasion of Upcoming Eid-ul-Azha
The Bangladesh Bank has issued Circular Letter No. 14 to mandate the disbursement of finance for raw hide purchases in the leather sector ahead of the 2026 Eid-ul-Azha under its special Raw Hide Purchase Scheme. The directive requires banks to strictly utilize disbursed funds for intended raw hide acquisitions, verify all supporting documents, and ensure no diversion of purchased hides to other purposes. Banks must fix a disbursement deadline not exceeding 30 June 2026, report the fixed deadline and guidelines to the Head Office by 31 January 2026, and are prohibited from granting extensions beyond the 2025 scheme's deadline.
