Licensing of GnuGrid CRB Limited

The Bank of Uganda has licensed GnuGrid CRB Limited as the country's third Credit Reference Bureau under the Financial Institutions Act 2004. Operating from Kampala, GnuGrid will expand credit information sharing services to last-mile customers and strengthen financial inclusion. Participating institutions must submit attending officer names to crbmonitoring@bou.or.ug for an introduction workshop scheduled on January 20, 2022.

Circular to all Chief Executive Officers of Commercial Banks, Credit Institutions and Microfinance Deposit-taking Institutions

Licensing of GnuGrid CRB Limited

Pursuant to Section 78 (1) of the Financial Institutions Act 2004 and regulation 13 of the Financial Institutions (Credit Reference Bureau) Regulations, 2005, Bank of Uganda licensed M/s GnuGrid CRB Limited (GnuGrid) as a third Credit Reference Bureau in Uganda.

M/s GnuGrid CRB Limited is located at Plot 77 Buganda Road, Nakasero -Kampala. GnuGrid's entry in the Credit Information Sharing (CIS) market brings additional expertise in the provision of Credit Information Sharing services to the last mile customer, which will ultimately promote access to credit and enhance financial inclusion.

Bank of Uganda will introduce GnuGrid CRB Limited to the CRB Project Managers and IT Officers of Participating Institutions at a half-day workshop scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Imperial Royale Hotel starting at 9:00 a.m. In this regard, we request each Participating Institution to submit the names of officers to attend the above workshop to crbmonitoring@bou.or.ug.
