The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia issued a decision authorizing the production of gold commemorative coins to mark the 200th anniversary of the First Serbian Uprising. The decree mandates the issuance of 1,000 coins valued at 10,000 dinars and 2,500 coins valued at 5,000 dinars, specifying their precise weight, diameter, and proof finish. The document further defines the numismatic design elements, including the effigy of Karađorđe on the obverse and the Serbian coat of arms on the reverse, while establishing that the coins will be sold at prices determined by the central bank.
Official Gazette of RS, No. 65/2004 Pursuant to Article 21(1) of the Law on the National Bank of Serbia (The Official Gazette of the RS, Nos. 72/2003 and 55/2004) and in connection with the Decision on Determining the 200th Anniversary of the First Serbian Uprising as an Event to Be Marked by the Issue of Commemorative Coins in 2004 (The Official Gazette of the RS, No. 51/2004), the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia hereby passes a DECISION ON THE ISSUE OF GOLD COMMEMORATIVE COINS TO MARK THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FISRT SERBIAN UPRISING
The obverse of the coins referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision shall bear the effigy of Karađorđe in the center with the semicircular inscription reading íí Đorđe PetrovićñKarađorđeííin Cyrillic lettering. Below the central image there shall be given the dot separated indication of the years of his birth and death.
The reverse of the coins referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision shall bear as a central image the two-headed eagle with the crown and the shield bearing four ocilo signs (or firesteels), the most frequent motif on the majority of coat of arms throughout the Serbian history. To the left from the crown there shall be an indication of the year íí1804íí and to the right the year íí2004íí. The semicircular inscription ííRepublika Srbijaíí both in Cyrillic and Latin lettering separated by a dot shall be given around the coat of arms. Below it the numerical indication of a corresponding nominal value shall be appearing above the dot separated inscription íídinaraíí written in both Cyrillic and Latin lettering.
The coins referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision shall have milled edge.
The coins referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision shall be offered for sale at prices fixed by the National Bank of Serbia.
This Decision shall enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of the RS. D. No. 36 Governor June 8, 2004 of the National Bank of Serbia Belgrade Radovan Jelasic
