Regulations amending reporting requirements for foreign credit institutions with significant branches in Sweden

Finansinspektionen amended its regulations (FFFS 2020:9) to mandate that foreign credit institutions with significant branches in Sweden submit supervisory reporting data defined in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 2021/451. These institutions are required to provide the specified information to the regulator on a quarterly basis, specifically for the balance sheet dates of 31 March, 30 June, 30 September, and 31 December. The amended regulations entered into force on 1 January 2025.

Finansinspektionen prescribes pursuant to Chapter 5, section 2, point 17 of the Banking and Financing Business Ordinance (2004:329) that section 2 of Finansinspektionen’s regulations and general guidelines (FFFS 2020:9) regarding reporting by foreign credit institutions for significant branches in Sweden shall have the following wording. Section 2 A credit institution pursuant to section 1 shall provide Finansinspektionen with the information set out in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 2021/451 of 17 December 2020 laying down implementing technical standards for the application of Regulation (EU) No 575/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to supervisory reporting of institutions and repealing Implementing Regulation (EU) No 680/2014, as set out in the appendix, and that refers to the significant branch. The institution shall provide the information as per the balance sheet dates 31 March, 30 June, 30 September, and 31 December.
