Banking Circular No 5 of 2016 - Review of Central Bank Rate

On September 20th, 2016, the Monetary Policy Committee of Kenya's Central Bank reduced the Central Bank Rate (CBR) by 50 basis points, from 10.50% to 10.00%. As a result, borrowing from the Central Bank Window will be at an increased rate of 16.00%. This change takes immediate effect.

Review Of Central Bank Rate (Cbr)

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Kenya at its meeting held on September 20, 2016 reviewed the CBR downwards by 50 basis points to 10.00 per cent from 10.50 per cent. The adjusted rate takes effect immediately.

Following the rate adjustment, borrowing from the Central Bank Window will be at 16.00 per cent.
