Uganda’s Capital Markets: Achievements, Challenges and Future Prospects

The Capital Markets Authority of Uganda reports significant growth in equity market fundraising and Collective Investment Scheme assets, driven by robust regulatory frameworks and increased investor participation. To further market expansion, the Authority has established a Deal Flow Facility to connect businesses with investors and conducts extensive public sensitization campaigns. The Authority is currently reviewing the CMA Act to enhance investor protection and is finalizing regulations for an Investor Compensation Fund while supporting regional integration through the East Africa Community securities exchange project.
