Final Report on draft Implementing Technical Standards on main indices and recognised exchanges under the Capital Requirements Regulation
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) issued this final report to submit draft Implementing Technical Standards to the European Commission for endorsement, specifying the main indices and recognised exchanges eligible under the Capital Requirements Regulation. The document establishes criteria for identifying main equity and convertible bond indices based on liquidity thresholds and defines recognised exchanges as regulated markets within the European Economic Area that provide adequate margining protections. ESMA expanded the list of eligible indices in response to stakeholder feedback while maintaining the exclusion of non-EEA exchanges to comply with the regulatory mandate.
