Notice Bringing the Drug Trafficking Offences (Amendment) Act, 2025 into Force
The Governor of the Virgin Islands issued this statutory instrument to formally appoint the effective date for the Drug Trafficking Offences (Amendment) Act, 2025. Pursuant to Section 1(2) of the Act, the Governor exercised his statutory powers to declare that the legislation shall come into force on June 6, 2025. This notice serves as the official proclamation requiring all subjects to take note of and govern themselves according to the newly enacted law.
VIRGIN ISLANDS STATUTORY INSTRUMENT 2025 NO. 50 DRUG TRAFFICKING OFFENCES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2025 (NO. 8 OF 2025) A NOTICE BY HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR UNDER SECTION 1(2) OF THE DRUG TRAFFICKING OFFENCES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2025 DECLARING THE DATE ON WHICH THE SAID ACT SHALL COME INTO FORCE (Sgd.) Daniel Pruce, Governor. [Gazetted 6 th June, 2025] WHEREAS it is provided by section 1(2) of the Drug Trafficking Offences (Amendment) Act, 2025 (No. 8 of 2025) that the said Act shall come into force on such date as the Governor may, by Notice published in the Gazette, appoint; NOW THEREFORE, by the virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me, I do hereby proclaim that the Drug Trafficking Offences (Amendment) Act, 2025 shall come into force on the 6 th day of June, 2025. AND all His Majesty’s loving subjects are hereby required to take note hereof and govern themselves accordingly. GIVEN under my hand and the public seal of the Virgin Islands at the Governor’s Office in Tortola in the Virgin Islands this 6 th day of June, 2025 and in the third year of His Majesty’s reign.
