Bank Indonesia issued Regulation Number 13/18/PBI/2011 to amend the specifications for the 100,000 Rupiah banknote, specifically enhancing security features to strengthen its function as legal tender. The regulation introduces new design elements for notes printed from July 2011 onwards, including a rainbow printing feature on the obverse and updated optically variable ink, while deleting previous Article 5A. It further declares that banknotes issued prior to this regulation remain valid legal tender provided they have not been revoked or withdrawn from circulation.
