Decision on the Issuance, Basic Characteristics, and Circulation of Coinage in Denominations of 5 Convertible Marks and 5 Feninga

The Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a decision to introduce 5 Convertible Marks and 5 Feninga coins as legal tender. The regulation specifies the bimetallic and nickel-plated steel compositions, precise physical dimensions, and detailed obverse and reverse designs for both denominations. The coins are scheduled for circulation in 2006, with the exact release date to be announced by the Governor.

CENTRAL BANK OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Pursuant to Article 2, paragraph 3, item h, Article 7, item e, Article 39, and Article 42 of the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Official Gazette of BiH", nos. 1/97, 29/02, 8/03, 13/03, 14/03, and 9/05) and the Decision of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina No. 01-011-981-27/05 dated July 15, 2005, on the design of coinage, the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its 12th session held on December 22, 2005, adopts

DECISION on the issuance, basic characteristics, and circulation of coinage in denominations of 5 Convertible Marks and 5 Feninga

  1. The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (hereinafter: the Central Bank) shall issue coinage in denominations of 5 Convertible Marks (hereinafter: KM) and 5 Feninga, as legal tender in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

  2. The coinage in the denomination of 5 KM shall be manufactured in two metals: an inner ring of nickel-brass (Cu 70%, Ni 5.5%, Zn 24.5%) and an outer ring of copper-nickel (Cu 75%, Ni 25%), while the 5 Feninga coin shall be made of nickel-plated steel alloy.

  3. The coin denominations specified in point 1 of this Decision shall be circular and have the following technical characteristics:

  1. the 5 KM denomination – mass of 10.33 grams (inner ring 4.55 grams, outer ring 5.78 grams), diameter of 30.00 millimeters (inner ring 17.80 millimeters, outer ring 29.59 millimeters), and a reeded edge thickness of 1.95 millimeters;
  2. the 5 Feninga denomination – mass of 2.70 grams, diameter of 18.00 millimeters, and a reeded edge.
  1. The appearance of the obverse of the coin denominations specified in point 1 of this Decision is as follows:
  1. for the 5 KM denomination, the numerical value is in the center, and below the numerical value is the letter designation "KM". Around the numerical value, the name "Bosnia and Herzegovina" is inscribed within the outer ring, specifically to the right of the numerical value in Cyrillic script, and to the left in Latin script, separated by two triangles.
  2. for the 5 Feninga denomination, the numerical value is in the center against a background featuring a map of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Around the numerical value, the word "Feninga" is inscribed such that above the numerical value it is written in Latin script, and below in Cyrillic script. Around the word "Feninga", the name "Bosnia and Herzegovina" is inscribed such that above the numerical value the name "Bosnia and Herzegovina" is written in Cyrillic script, and below in Latin script, between which are triangle signs.

2 Between the word "Feninga" and the name "Bosnia and Herzegovina" there are three concentric circles, and between the name "Bosnia and Herzegovina" and the border line there are dots in a row.

  1. The appearance of the reverse of the coin denominations specified in point 1 of this Decision is as follows:
  1. for the 5 KM denomination, a dove with an olive branch in its beak is in the center, and above the dove is the numerical designation "2005". Within the outer ring, the name "Bosnia and Herzegovina" is inscribed, specifically to the right of the dove in Cyrillic script, and to the left in Latin script, separated by two triangles.
  2. for the 5 Feninga denomination, a triangle is in the center, and parallel to its left side extends a row of five-pointed stars, and to the left of the triangle is the designation "2005". Around the triangle, the name "Bosnia and Herzegovina" is inscribed such that above the triangle the name "Bosnia and Herzegovina" is written in Latin script, and below in Cyrillic script, between which are triangle signs. Between the triangle and the name "Bosnia and Herzegovina" there are three concentric circles, and between the name "Bosnia and Herzegovina" and the border line there are dots in a row.
  1. The coinage specified in point 1 of this Decision shall be put into circulation in 2006, and the precise date shall be determined and published by the Governor of the Central Bank in the media.

  2. This Decision shall enter into force on the day of publication in the "Official Gazette of BiH", and shall also be published in the "Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH", the "Official Gazette of the Republika Srpska", and the "Official Gazette of the Brčko District of BiH".
