A circular dated February 12, 2026 regarding reducing the reserve ratio from 18% to 16%
The Central Bank of Egypt has reduced the mandatory cash reserve ratio for banks from 18% to 16%. This new ratio applies to the reserve period commencing February 17, 2026, calculated based on average balances between January 20 and February 2, 2026. Banks are required to acknowledge this change and take immediate necessary actions to comply with the updated reserve requirement, while existing related Central Bank decisions remain in effect.
القاهرة في ١٢ فبراير ٢٠٢٦\nCairo on February 12, 2026\n\nالسيد الأستاذ / رئيس مجلس الإدارة\nProfessor / Chairman of the Board of Directors\n\nبنك\nBank\n\nتحية طيبة وبعد،،\nWith kind regards,\n\nبالإشارة الى الكتاب الدوري الصادر بتاريخ ۲۲ سبتمبر ۲۰۲۲ بخصوص نسبة الاحتياطي النقدي، وفي ضوء المتابعة المستمرة للمؤشرات الاقتصادية، فقد قرر مجلس إدارة البنك المركزي بجلسته المنعقدة في ٢٧ يناير ٢٠٢٦ ما يلي:\nReferring to the circular issued on September 22, 2022, regarding the cash reserve ratio, and in light of the continuous monitoring of economic indicators, the Board of Directors of the Central Bank decided at its meeting held on January 27, 2026, the following:\n\n۱. خفض نسبة الاحتياطي النقدي التي تلتزم البنوك بالاحتفاظ بها لدى البنك المركزي المصري لتصبح ١٦% بدلا من ١٨٪.\n1. Reduce the cash reserve ratio that banks are obligated to maintain with the Central Bank of Egypt to become 16% instead of 18%.\n\n. يسرى هذا القرار اعتبارا من فترة نسبة الاحتياطي التي تبدأ في ١٧ فبراير إلى ٢ مارس ٢٠٢٦ عن متوسط الأرصدة التي يتكون منها مقام النسبة من ٢٠ يناير إلى ٢ فبراير ٢٠٢٦.\n2. This decision is effective from the reserve ratio period starting from February 17 to March 2, 2026, based on the average balances from January 20 to February 2, 2026.\n\n. استمرار العمل بقرارات مجلس إدارة البنك المركزي السارية بشأن نسبة الاحتياطي.\n3.
