Status of Previously Issued Circulars (C1/2012)
The South African Reserve Bank’s Registrar of Banks issued Circular 1/2012 to annually confirm the operational status of previously published circulars and directives under the Banks Act, 1990. The document explicitly cancels Directive 8/2008, lists thirteen effective directives and eight circulars that remain binding until formally revoked in writing, and requires regulated entities to retain these publications. Affected banks, foreign branches, controlling companies, eligible institutions, and auditors must return a jointly signed acknowledgement of receipt to the Registrar’s office.
