Národná banka Slovenska issued Decision No 18/2016 to establish specific Other Systemically Important Institution buffer rates for five Slovak banks effective 1 January 2017. The regulation mandates that these capital buffers, ranging from 1% to 2%, be maintained on both an individual and sub-consolidated basis. This decision simultaneously repeals the previous Decision No 5/2015 regarding O-SII buffer rates.
Decision No 18/2016 of Národná banka Slovenska of 24 May 2016 on the setting of O-SII buffer rates Národná banka Slovenska, in accordance with Article 33d(5) of Act No 483/2001 Coll. on banks and amending certain laws, as amended, has adopted this Decision: Article 1 For banks in Slovakia identified as other systemically important institutions (O-SII), the O-SII buffers applied to them will be set at the following rates from 1 January 2017: (a) Československá obchodná banka, a.s. 1%, (b) Poštová banka, a.s. 2%, (c) Slovenská sporiteľňa, a.s. 1%, (d) Tatra banka, a.s. 1%, (e) Všeobecná úverová banka, a.s. 1%. Article 2 The O-SII buffers stated in Article 1 shall be maintained on both an individual and subconsolidated basis. Article 3 This Decision repeals Decision No 5/2015 of Národná banka Slovenska of 26 May 2015 on the setting of O-SII buffer rates. Article 4 This Decision enters into force on 1 January 2017.
