Circular and Guidelines on the Expanded Discount Window

The Central Bank of Nigeria is hosting a 2008 Annual Workshop on Foreign Exchange Management Issues at Protea Hotel, Lekki, Lagos from Monday, November 3rd to Thursday, November 6th. The workshop's theme is "Towards the Achievement of Current Account Convertibility: Concepts, Issues and Challenges." It will consist of two consecutive two-day runs and will focus on issues such as Current Account Convertibility and its Implications for Trade Facilitation in Nigeria; Nigerian Legal Framework and Current Account Convertibility; Payment System Reforms and Current Account Convertibility; and Naira Convertibility: The Journey So Far. A fee of ₦65,000 per participant covers workshop materials and meals, excluding accommodation. Authorized Dealers are encouraged to register their nominees (not below the grade of Manager) by October 28th through a bank draft payable to "Central Bank of Nigeria - FEM Training Account." Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis and it's suggested to send more than two nominees spread across both runs.

The Workshop will hold in two runs of two (2) days each. It will focus on issues such as: Current Account Convertibility and its Implications for Trade Facilitation in Nigeria; Nigerian Legal Framework and Current Account Convertibility; Payment System Reforms and Current Account Convertibility; and Naira Convertibility: The Journey So Far. Presentations will be made by experts and seasoned practitioners in the fields of Banking, Economics, Finance, International Trade, etc. Some of the facilitators are drawn from Global Analytics of UK and Renaissance Capital. The programme commences 9.00 a.m. daily. The Workshop attracts a fee of ₦65,000.00 (Sixty-five thousand naira only) per participant and covers workshop bag and materials, group lunch, tea/coffee and snacks, but excludes accommodation and other meals. Authorised Dealers are enjoined to forward names of their nominees (not below the grade of Manager) together with bank draft for ₦65,000.00 per nominee and payable to "Central Bank of Nigeria - FEM Training Account". The draft should be forwarded to the Assistant Director, Foreign Exchange Management Office, Trade & Exchange Department, Central Bank of Nigeria, Abuja or the Senior Manager, Policy Monitoring Office, Trade & Exchange Department, Lagos, on or before October 28, 2008, to enable us conclude necessary arrangements early. Please note that participation will be on the basis of first-come, first served. Authorised Dealers are, however, encouraged to nominate more than two nominees and spread them between the two runs.
