A circular dated March 5, 2026 regarding extending the period of excluding some food products from the cash cover requirements for one year
The Central Bank of Egypt has extended the exemption for rice, beans, and lentils from the 100% cash cover requirement for import operations. This exemption, previously set to expire on March 15, 2026, is now prolonged for another year, concluding on March 15, 2027, to facilitate market needs and benefit citizens. The decision covers all companies' import activities, contingent on individual bank credit assessments, and banks are instructed to ensure its immediate implementation.

بالإشارة إلى كتاب البنك المركزي المصري المؤرخ ۲۱ ديسمبر ٢٠١٥ بشأن ضوابط العمليات الاستيرادية والكتب الدورية اللاحقة له، وآخرها الكتاب الدوري المؤرخ ٢٦ مارس ٢٠٢٥ بشأن السماح للبنوك باستثناء كل من الأرز والفول والعدس من الغطاء النقدي بواقع 100% على العمليات الاستيرادية لأغراض التجارة وذلك لمدة عام ينتهي في ١٥ مارس ٢٠٢٦، Referring to the letter from the Central Bank of Egypt dated December 21, 2015, regarding import operation controls and subsequent circulars, the latest being the circular dated March 26, 2025, concerning allowing banks to exempt rice, beans, and lentils from 100% cash cover on import operations for commercial purposes for a period of one year ending on March 15, 2026,
وفي ضوء متابعة البنك المركزي لاحتياجات السوق المصري وحرصه على تسهيل الإجراءات الاستيرادية لمقابلة احتياجات المواطنين، فقد تقرر مد فترة السماح المُشار إليها بعاليه لمدة عام آخر ينتهي في 15 مارس ۲۰۲۷. And in light of the Central Bank's monitoring of the Egyptian market needs and its keenness to facilitate import procedures to meet citizens' needs, it has been decided to extend the aforementioned exemption period for another year, ending on March 15, 2027.
ويسري هذا القرار على كافة العمليات الاستيرادية لجميع الشركات مع مراعاة الدراسة الائتمانية التي يجريها كل بنك. This decision applies to all import operations for all companies, taking into account the credit study conducted by each bank.
