JPRF-A-2021-001 — Election of President and Substitute President of the JPRF (2 years)

The Financial Policy and Regulation Board (JPRF) of Ecuador issued Resolution No. JPRF-A-2021-001 to appoint its leadership for a two-year term following the October 12, 2021 designation of its members by the National Assembly. The resolution formally elects María Paulina Vela Zambrano as President and Catalina Pazos Chimbo as Substitute President, in accordance with the Organic Code of Monetary and Financial Law. This administrative act took effect upon signing on October 14, 2021, in Quito, establishing the board's executive hierarchy for the specified period.

RESOLUTION No. JPRF-A-2021-001

THE FINANCIAL POLICY AND REGULATION BOARD

Considerations:

That Article 226 of the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador provides that state institutions, their agencies, dependencies, public servants, and persons acting by virtue of state authority shall exercise only the competencies and powers attributed to them in the Constitution and the law;

That Article 13 of the Organic Code of Monetary and Financial Law determines the creation of the Financial Policy and Regulation Board, part of the executive function, as a legal entity of public law, with administrative and operational autonomy, responsible for the formulation of credit, financial, securities, insurance, and prepaid comprehensive health care service policy and regulation;

That the same Article 13 of the Organic Code of Monetary and Financial Law provides that the Financial Policy and Regulation Board shall elect from among its members a President and a Substitute President, for a term of two years.

That the National Assembly, on October 12, 2021, designated and swore in the members of the Financial Policy and Regulation Board, namely: Catalina Pazos Chimbo, María Paulina Vela Zambrano, and Iván Eduardo Velástegui Velástegui; and,

In exercise of its legal powers,

Resolves:

Article 1.- Elect María Paulina Vela Zambrano as President of the Board for a two-year term, in accordance with current regulations.

Article 2.- Elect Catalina Pazos Chimbo as Substitute President of the Board for a two-year term, in accordance with current regulations.

This resolution shall enter into effect from the date of its signing, without prejudice to its publication.
