The Capital Markets Authority of Lebanon permits CMA-approved institutions operating as branches or subsidiaries of foreign financial entities to issue client reports, statements of account, and contract notes directly from their parent companies or booking centers. This regulatory update, grounded in Law No. 161 and Board Decision No. 7/5/21, replaces the prior local issuance requirement with direct parent-issued documentation. The announcement takes effect immediately upon publication in the Official Gazette and applies to all relevant institutions under Series 3000 business conduct regulations.
Announcement No. 74 On reports, statements of account and contract notes to clients Pursuant to Law No. 161 dated 17/08/2011 on Capital Markets, Pursuant to the decision of the Board of the Capital Markets Authority No. 7/5/21 repeated adopted in its meeting held on 01/06/2021, Please note the following: First: The CMA’s approved institutions which are branches and/ or subsidiaries and/ or sister companies of foreign financial institutions (known as “parent” companies or Booking Center), which undertake the sending of reports, statements of accounts and contract notes to their clients pursuant to the provisions of the Series 3000 - Business Conduct Regulation, may send such reports, statements of accounts and contract notes as issued directly by the “parent” institutions or the Booking Center, as opposed to sending such documents as issued by the approved institution. Second: This Announcement shall enter into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
