M-2026-014: Regulatory Relief Measures in Relation to the Declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas authorized supervised financial institutions to avail of regulatory relief measures under Section 1151 of the Manual of Regulations for Banks following the declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency. The relief, effective from March 24, 2026, allows institutions to extend targeted support to borrowers facing financial pressure attributable to the crisis, subject to prudent judgment and compliance with reporting requirements. Additionally, the central bank strongly encouraged financial institutions to temporarily suspend fees on online banking and electronic money services to ensure continued access to financial transactions during the emergency.
