Notice No. 2/2019

Banco de Portugal issued Notice No. 2/2019 to establish specific thresholds for determining the significance of past-due credit exposures and risk positions under EU Regulation 575/2013. The notice defines the criteria for significant past-due obligations and distinguishes between significant retail and non-retail risk positions. It entered into force on May 25, 2019, to ensure consistent application of regulatory technical standards across the banking sector.

Summary

Fixes, for the purposes of point (b) of paragraph 1 and point (d) of paragraph 2 of Article 178 of Regulation (EU) No 575/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013, and of paragraph 1 of Article 1 and paragraph 1 of Article 2 of Delegated Regulation (EU) 2018/171 of the Commission of 19 October 2017, which supplements Regulation (EU) No 575/2013 as regards regulatory technical standards relating to the threshold for determining the significance of past-due credit exposures, the thresholds regarding the significance of risk positions on the retail portfolio and risk positions that are not risk positions on the retail portfolio.
