DIALLING NO.: 012 428 8020 OUR REF: 12/12/1 FAX: 012 347 0874 DATE: 12 May 2009 E-MAIL: lorained@fsb.co.za INFO CIRCULAR NO 3 OF 2009 PENSION FUNDS ACT, 1956 (“the Act”) REQUEST FOR STATISTICAL INFORMATION ON REGISTERED FUNDS AND PARTICIPATING EMPLOYERS OF UMBRELLA FUND The Financial Services Board (“FSB”) under section 15A of the Financial Services Board Act, 1990, impose levies as set out in the schedule on financial institutions as published annually in the Government Gazette. In order to assist the Registrar of Pension Funds to invoice accurate levies, you are hereby requested to scrutinise the attached Excel spreadsheets containing funds and participating employers of umbrella funds which is according to the FSB system under your administration as at 12 May 2009. Administrators are hereby requested to verify and update the relevant fund information on the Fund spreadsheet with, amongst others, the following information: Administrator (new) – if you are not the current administrator of the fund, kindly give the details of the new administrator Effective date – kindly indicate the date of the transfer of administration to the new administrator Fund name (new) – if the fund name differs from the name on the spreadsheet, kindly give the new name duly registered in terms of section 12 of the Act Umbrella type – if the umbrella fund type differs from the spreadsheet, kindly give the correct type registered in terms of the Act Sub-status – if the sub-status is incorrect on the spreadsheet, kindly indicate the sub-status and furnish a reason why the sub-status is incorrect in the additional comments column Query reason – kindly give the reason if the fund is still active but in a process to be deregistered Last financial statements submitted - if the funds’ last financial statements submitted and validated differs from the date on the spreadsheet, kindly indicate the latest year submitted and validated Additional comments – any further comments Kindly add any funds under your administration which are not on the list after the last entry on the spreadsheet.

Comments - If the participating employer has ceased to exist, indicate the cancellation date and reason for cancellation (Full transfer (section 14), liquidated (section 28(15) or last member withdraw from the employer (section 27(1)) or if the participating employer name differs from the name on the spreadsheet, kindly give the new participating employer name. Kindly add any active participating employers and the date of participation which are not on the list after the last entry of the particular umbrella fund on the spreadsheet. You are requested not to use “ ; \ * ” in any of the fields as the export program uses these characters as delimiters or CHANGE ANYTHING ON THE FORMAT OR FSB DATA CONTAINED IN THIS STANDARD SPREADSHEET.
