Decision on the Issuance of Convertible Mark Coinage in Denominations of 5 and 50 Fening and 1 Convertible Mark

The Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a decision on March 27, 2025, to put into circulation new 2025-issued coinage in denominations of 5 and 50 fening and 1 convertible mark. The decision mandates that all public and private entities within Bosnia and Herzegovina must accept these coins as legal tender at their nominal value for cash transactions and debt settlement. The coins retain the design and basic characteristics of previous issuances and will be introduced into circulation successively by the Central Bank in accordance with inventory and issuance plans.

Pursuant to Article 2, paragraph (3), item h., Article 7, item a), Articles 39 and 45 of the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Official Gazette of BiH", nos. 1/97, 29/02, 8/09, 13/03, 14/03, 09/05, 76/06 and 32/07), the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its 3rd meeting held on March 27, 2025, adopts

DECISION on the issuance of convertible mark coinage in denominations of 5 and 50 fening and 1 convertible mark

Article 1. (Introductory Provisions) The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina has minted convertible mark coinage (hereinafter: KM coinage) in denominations of 5 and 50 fening and 1 convertible mark, 2025 issue.

Article 2. (Basic Characteristics and Design of KM Coinage) (1) The KM coinage referred to in Article 1 of this Decision has the following basic characteristics and design:

  • coinage in the denomination of 5 fening in accordance with the Decision on Issuance, Basic Characteristics and Issuance into Circulation of Coinage in Denominations of 5 Convertible Marks and 5 Fening ("Official Gazette of BiH", no. 92/05),
  • coinage in the denomination of 50 fening in accordance with the Decision on Issuance, Basic Characteristics and Issuance into Circulation of Coinage in Denominations of 10, 20 and 50 Fening ("Official Gazette of BiH", nos. 24/98 and 25/98),
  • coinage in the denomination of 1 convertible mark in accordance with the Decision on Issuance, Basic Characteristics and Issuance into Circulation of Coinage in Denominations of 1 and 2 Convertible Marks ("Official Gazette of BiH", no. 20/00). (2) The KM coinage referred to in Article 1 of this Decision is minted with the issue year "2025".

Article 3. (Legal Tender) In accordance with the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, all public and private institutions and establishments, legal and natural persons are obliged to accept the KM coinage from this Decision at their nominal value as legal tender when offered in cash transactions, or in settlement and payment of any obligations towards them, throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Article 4. (Issuance of KM Coinage into Circulation) Upon entry into force of this Decision, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina will, through the Central Office, main units and branches, issue the KM coinage from this Decision into circulation successively, in accordance with the inventory of KM coinage reserves and the plan for issuing KM coinage into circulation.

Article 5. (Entry into Force) This Decision shall enter into force on the eighth day from the date of publication in the "Official Gazette of BiH", and shall also be published in the "Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH", the "Official Gazette of the Republika Srpska" and the "Official Gazette of the Brčko District of BiH".
