Circular No. 178/2025: Christmas and New Year Holidays

The Palestine Monetary Authority issued Circular No. 178/2025 declaring specific dates as official holidays for all banks operating in Palestine. The circular mandates closures on Thursday, December 25, 2025, for Western Christmas; Thursday, January 1, 2026, for the New Year; and Wednesday, January 7, 2026, for Eastern Christmas. This directive is issued under Article 73 of the Banks Law No. 9 of 2010 and a Cabinet resolution.

To all banks operating in Palestine

Date: Monday, December 22, 2025

Subject: Christmas and New Year Holidays

Based on the provisions of Article No. (73) of the Banks Law No. (9) of 2010, and based on the decision of the esteemed Cabinet Council, it has been decided to consider the following holidays and occasions as official holidays for all banks operating in Palestine, as follows:

  • Thursday, December 25, 2025, on the occasion of Western Christmas.
  • Thursday, January 1, 2026, on the occasion of the New Year.
  • Wednesday, January 7, 2026, on the occasion of Eastern Christmas.

On these occasions, I extend greetings to all employees in the banking sector in Palestine, and we ask God to return these occasions to our Palestinian people with the realization of their aspirations for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
