Directive No. 04-DMA-2018, dated July 17

The National Bank of Angola reduces the BNA Basic Interest Rate by 1.5 percentage points from 18.00% to 16.50% per annum, effective immediately following the Monetary Policy Committee's decision on July 17, 2018. This adjustment aligns the reference rate with Notice No. 10/2011 and formally revokes Directive No. 03/DMA-2018 dated May 24, 2018. The Markets Department retains authority to resolve any interpretative doubts or omissions arising from the application of this Directive.

The Governor DIRECTIVE NO. 04/DMA/2018 ORIGIN: MARKETS DEPARTMENT DATE 17/07/2018 SUBJECT: BNA RATE - NOTICE NO. 10/2011, OF OCTOBER 20 Whereas it is necessary to adjust the BNA reference interest rate regulated under Notice No. 10/2011, of October 25; In accordance with the decision of the eighty-first ordinary session of the Monetary Policy Committee, held today, July 17, 2018; The National Bank of Angola establishes the following:

  1. The BNA Basic Interest Rate – BNA Rate - is reduced by 1.5 (one point five) percentage points, from 18.00% to 16.50% per annum
  2. Any doubts and omissions arising from the interpretation and application of this Directive shall be clarified by the Markets Department.
  3. This Directive enters into force immediately and revokes Directive No. 03/DMA/2018, of May 24.
